10- Landscape photography: inspiring landscapes some
people might tell you that landscape photography does not make good stock
photography that there are too many landscape images out there that there are
too many people who are contributing their pictures from their Heights to stock
photography agencies and you won't make any money however I'm here to tell you
that that's just not true make sure that your landscapes are inspiring to make
sure that they are absolutely technically perfect but just that they have a
mood and that if they speak to you know that they will speak to others some
landscapes that are particularly inspiring are Aurora's Northern Lights
mountain ranges across the world anything that shows peace of unspoiled beauty
all of these are sure to bring in some sales on stock photography websites

9- Photoshop creations: Photoshop creations
don't be afraid to use Photoshop for a realistic image you don't want to go
overboard on your editing and have the image come out looking tacky however for
a fantasy image or an image that isn't meant to be realistic looking don't be
afraid to use Photoshop to really grab a viewer’s attention to grab a
customer's attention to do this effectively think of a concept that you would
like to bring across and then go and make an image that really brings out that
concept number
8 -non-isolated objects: you may think that you
have to find an amazing scene or have something big and complicated to really
make your image stand out objects everyday objects if presented in the correct
way can be very sought after by customers who are looking through stock
photography take an object and put it against a background that enhances that the object you don't have to spend big money on props look around your home I'm
sure there are many things that would be applicable
7- illustrations: using adobe illustrator
you can make illustrations rather than photographs to sell on stock photography
websites in fact illustrations sell very very well however not all of us are
artistically inclined and able to make really great drawn creations on a computer however using Adobe Illustrator you don't have to be an artist to make
an image that is going to sell learn a few of the basics invest a little bit of
time and you may find that this is actually another creative pursuit that you
enjoy doing
6-Christmas and holidays: number six could easily
just be Christmas I have noticed that my stock photography sales will be pretty
even throughout the whole year until Christmas the few months leading up to
Christmas everything goes up up up and up it is a huge huge time when people
are buying images to put in their commercials to put in their ads to put in
their blog posts everything leading up to Christmas Christmas is a huge
commercial holiday that being said also other holidays don't forget about
Valentine's Day Halloween Thanksgiving and all of the other wonderful times
that people come together to celebrate
5- People: people images are always in demand happy people
sad people laughing people, people swimming people playing sports, people
working people calling their friends on the phone there are always demand for
people pictures in stock photography.
4- isolated objects: these sell well take an object that means something or can be associated with a concept and then
isolate it against a white or a black background you can use colour as well
but white and black tend to be very versatile and people can use them easily in
their projects.
3- backgrounds: the key to creating a successful
background is to make sure that your image has enough space for the foreground
that the designer is going to put in whether that be text another object or
something else the beauty about backgrounds is that people need them for
everything looks at Flyers what do you see they have backgrounds look at webpages
what do you see they have backgrounds, backgrounds are everywhere.
2- concepts: concepts are key you can put a concept in
any of the other images that I have already mentioned as ideas for photography
and immediately it will boost your chance of selling that image concepts are
great think of any concept picture what it is that you think of when you think
of that word that concept and then create an image here are some of my selling
concepts this one is for a school snow day sicknesses and allergies camping
travel the list goes on and on and is literally endless.
1- Anything that inspires you: the great thing about
stock photography is that pictures are needed for absolutely everything so if
something inspires you to upload it and I guarantee that if it invokes some sort
of emotion in you if it makes you feel a certain way there will be somebody out
there who feels the same
